Jacksonville's Shinedown Have a New Album on the Way

Shinedown will be releasing their latest album, titled Amaryillis in March though it may be pre-ordered in January. Arguably the best known and most successful current, still-active band formed in Jacksonville, Shinedown came together in 2001. The band has released three albums to date, selling more than eight million copies in total.

Fans got a taste of what was in store when the single Bully was released on the Internet on January 3, 2012. Lead singer Brent Smith has stated that the music on Amaryllis is not going like the band’s previous albums as the band likes to change its sound from album to album. Apart from Smith, other members of the band are guitar-player Jason Todd, drummer Barry Kerch and Brad Stewart on bass.

Amaryillis is Shinedown’s first venture since The Sound of Madness which had all of its singles fly to the top of the rock charts. Songs from the album were also featured in a number of movies and TV shows, including the WWE’s use of the song Devour as the theme for a pay-per-view event in 2008. The Sound of Madness debuted at #8 on the Billboard Top 100 Album Chart and spent 120 consecutive weeks on it. The album’s producer is the highly esteemed Rob Cavallo who has in the past produced music for Kid Rock and Green Day. The band will support the album with a limited tour of the UK throughout February 2012.

The album will be released throughout the world with the exception of the USA where Shinedown is still signed to Atlantic Records.
