10. The Monkees
Can you believe they’re still even alive, let alone playing? Okay, bad joke. But seriously, this would be a pretty fun concert, and likely kid-friendly too, if you need a venue like that. They’ll be playing at the Florida Theater on June 6 at 8:00.
9. Cheap Trick
I want you to want…to go see Cheap Trick in concert! Actually, I could care less who else decides to go; but I’d sure love to see them myself. They will be at the Britt Festivals Gardens and Amphitheater on August 29 at 7:30.
8. Charlie Daniels Band
Get your southern fried rock on and hear “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” and all of your Charlie Daniels Band favorites at the Britt Festival Gardens and Amphitheater on June 25 at 7:00. I actually had an LP of the Charlie Daniels Band and other southern rockers called “Southern Fried Rock” with an egg picture on it years ago. It was a fantastic album.
7. Bill Maher
He’s not musical, no, but he is absolutely hilarious! If you love political humor (particularly the kind directed at conservatives), you’ve got to check him out. He’ll be at the Florida Theater on May 24 at 8:00. If you can’t go, you can check out his show, Real Time, on HBO on Friday nights.
6. Keith Urban
Country fans may want to check out Keith Urban’s concert at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena on June 17 at 7:30 PM.
5. Plain White T’s
Hey there Delilah, want to go see this concert? It’s going to be at the Freebird Café on May 12 at 7:00.
4. Kenny Chesney
One of the few country artists whom I like (who else would think about singing about a tractor being sexy?), Chesney will be performing at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena on May 12 at 7:00.
3. Sara Bareilles
This modern pop sensation can be seen at the Britt Festivals Gardens and Amphitheater on July 20 at 6:30. Just don’t ask her to write you a love song.
2. The B52’s
Oh, are you in for a great night of fun if you go to this concert. If you think the band is crazy in the “Love Shack” video, they’ve got to be barking mad and awesome in concert. They will be at the Britt Festival Gardens and Amphitheater on September 9 at 6:30. I’d stand outside just to hear “Roam If You Want To,” myself.
1. Michael Franti and Spearhead
Not only is this concert sure to be one of the most energized, positive events of the summer—it’s sure to get you dancing along and singing right away. Nobody can sit still when Michael Franti is at the mic! They’ll be at the Britt Festival Gardens and Amphitheater on June 11 at 7:30.
